Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 October 2026
Portio is a personal budgeting app for iPhone, Android and the web. This policy explains what the app and the website portio.money collect, why, who receives it, and how you delete it. "Portio", "we" and "us" mean the publisher of the app, based in Morocco. You can reach us at support@portio.money.
In short
- We store your account details and the budget you type in, so it is the same on every device you sign in on.
- We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
- Portio never connects to your bank and never asks for a card or bank account number.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time, in the app or on the website.
1. What we collect
| Data | What it is | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Your email address. If you sign in with Google: the name, profile picture address and account identifier Google sends us. If you use email and password: your password, stored only as a salted hash that we cannot read. | To create your account, sign you in and keep it secure. |
| Profile | The name you type, your language and the currency you choose. | To show the app in your language and currency. |
| Budget data | What you enter: incomes, bills, your split, charity percentage, debts and loans (including the names of the people involved and your notes), payments, and the monthly checklist. | This is the service: we store it so you can see and edit it on your devices. |
| Membership | Whether you are on the free plan, the trial or Premium, until when, and any promo code you redeemed. | To give you the features of your plan. |
| Sign-in sessions | Tokens that keep you signed in, and one-time codes we email you. | To keep you signed in and confirm your email address. |
| Website visits | Anonymous page-view counts on portio.money (page, referrer, country, browser type). No cookies and no advertising identifier. | To know which pages are used. |
The phone app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking software. We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or precise device identifiers. Our hosting providers process your IP address for a short time to deliver the service and protect it from abuse.
If you write to us, we keep your message and address for as long as it takes to answer you.
2. People you add to your budget
When you record a debt or a loan you may type another person's name. That entry is private to your account. Enter only what you need to recognise the entry.
3. How we use it
- To run the app: save your budget, sync it between your devices, and compute your plan.
- To sign you in, confirm your email address, and protect accounts from abuse.
- To manage your membership.
- To answer you when you contact us.
We do not use your budget for advertising, we do not build profiles about you, and we do not make automated decisions that have a legal effect on you.
Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (the service itself), our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and measuring anonymous website usage, and your consent where we ask for it.
4. Who receives it
We do not sell or rent personal data. We share it only with the companies that run the service for us, under terms that require them to protect it and to use it only on our instructions:
| Company | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Convex, Inc. | Database and servers: stores your account and budget data. | United States |
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Hosts the website and counts anonymous page views. | United States |
| Sign in with Google, only if you choose it. | United States | |
| Resend | Sends the one-time codes to your email address. | United States |
| Apple and Google Play | If you buy a subscription in the app, the store handles the payment and tells us whether it is active. We never receive your card details. | Worldwide |
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
5. Where it is stored
Your data is stored on servers in the United States. If you live elsewhere, your data is transferred there. Where the law requires it, the transfer is covered by standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard with the provider.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your account, profile, budget data and sessions are removed from our live systems straight away. Copies that may remain in our providers' backups or logs are deleted on their normal schedule, within 30 days.
After deletion we keep one thing: the fact that a promo code was used, with no email, name or budget data attached, so the same code cannot be used twice. Purchases made through the App Store or Google Play stay in your store account under their own policies.
7. Your choices and rights
- See and correct your data in the app at any time.
- Delete your budget but keep your account: Settings → Reset everything.
- Delete your account and everything in it: Settings → Delete account, or follow these steps.
- Get a copy of your data, or object to how we use it: write to support@portio.money from the address of your account. We answer within 30 days.
Depending on where you live you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are stored as salted hashes. On your phone, sign-in tokens are kept in the system keychain. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
9. Children
Portio is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
11. Contact
