About Portio
A small startup, helping people decide where their salary goes
Portio is a budget planner. You type what you earned, and it splits the month in a fixed order: what you give, then your bills, then the rest by percentages you choose. It gives you a checklist, and you move the money yourself.
Why we built it
Most budgeting tools ask you to record every purchase after it happens. We wanted the opposite: one decision on payday, made before the money is spent, and then nothing to track. We also wanted a planner that puts giving first, works with any currency, and never asks for a bank login.
Who we are
A small independent team. We are builders who needed this tool ourselves, not a bank and not financial advisers. Portio never holds or moves your money.
How the guides are written
The guides are written by the Portio team. Each one answers a single question about salaries, saving, debt or giving, and follows the same rules:
- The answer comes first, in the first paragraph.
- Every guide has a calculator, so you can try the idea on your own numbers.
- Every number is checked. The examples come from the calculator on the page, and an automatic test fails if the text and the math disagree.
- No one pays to be mentioned. When we compare apps, including our own, nobody is paid for a place in the list.
- We correct mistakes. If you find one, write to us and we fix the guide.
What the guides are not
They are general education, not personal financial, tax or legal advice. They cannot know your situation. For a decision that matters, such as investing or serious debt, speak to a qualified adviser or a free debt-advice service in your country.
